New Modular National PSHE CPD Programme

The National PSHE CPD Programme is now available as a modular programme with training courses run by Babcock 4S in Central London and Leeds, leading to accreditation through Roehampton University.  Courses are suitable for teachers, school nurses, HLTAs, police officers, fire and safety officers, learning mentors, youth workers and other professionals involved in delivering PSHE education in schools and other settings.

In addition to the Babcock 4S central training programme, there are also many areas running Parts 1 and 2 of the National PSHE CPD Programme locally.  Please contact us at nationalpshe@babcock.co.uk for details of programmes running in your local area.

Effective Teaching and Learning - Part 1 is a 2-day course which explores a variety of strategies for effective teaching and learning in PSHE education.  The course will be interactive and cover the key ingredients of effective PSHE pedagogy.  Participants will receive a certificate of attendance and the DVD 'Developing effective PSHE education'. 
 
Effective Teaching and Learning – Part 2 is a 2-day course  which will guide participants through the requirements of the accreditation through Roehampton University and offers 20 credits at either HE1 (first year degree level), HE2 (second year) or HE3 (final year degree level). Following the part 2 course participants will have time to prepare their work  and need to submit the following for assessment in order to gain accreditation from Roehampton University at their chosen level of entry

• A completed lesson observation.
• A reflective lesson plan (approx 1500 words)
• Extracts from a reflective journal (approx 3500 words) plus a bibliography.

Effective Teaching and Learning – Part 3 is a Masters level HE4 module offering 60 credits through Roehampton University.  This blended learning course consists of two 2-day residential weekends and individual research.   Participants will develop a literature review and action research project on any aspect of PSHE.  The course will normally be completed within a 12 month period.
