How to apply for an Excellent Teacher Post

2. Establish that there is an Excellent Teacher post available in your school. (Teachers can apply only for an Excellent Teacher post available in the school in which they are already teaching.)

3. Check that you meet the assessment criteria:

•  Have you continued to develop yourself professionally?
• Have you provided regular coaching and mentoring?
• Have you been on point 3 of the upper pay scale for at least two years before the date you will take up the post?
• Have you undertaken a piece of work (ideally in the last two years) that involved a searching analysis, identified and addressed the needs of a particular group of pupils and was of sufficient substance to have an impact beyond your own pupils?

4. Download and complete the application form from the Department for Education website, or use hard copy, addresses above

Your headteacher will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of the form and you will be assigned an assessor for your Excellent Teacher assessment.
