Designated Safeguarding Lead Training

Designated Safeguarding Lead Training

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) New to Role and Update Training

Babcock 4S delivers both the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) New to Role and Update training sessions.  The required education section must be done in addition to the Surrey Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB) multi-agency modular courses. However, DSL training may be done at any time whilst the person is completing the SSCB modules. Delegates should be DSLs or Deputy DSLs, and should have completed basic safeguarding awareness training within the past 3 years.

DSL New to Role Training  (Full Day Course)

An introductory course for Designated Safeguarding Leads in schools who are new to the DSL role.  The required education section must be done in addition to the Surrey Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB) multi-agency modular courses. This course may be done at any time whilst the person is completing the SSCB modules.

DSL Update Training  (Half day course - legally required every two years)

An update course for Designated Safeguarding Leads in schools (to be repeated every two years). The required education section must be done in addition to the Surrey Safeguarding Childrens Board multi-agency modular courses. This course may be done at any time whilst the person is completing the SSCB modules.

  • To provide information and an update on the DSL role
  • To discuss topical issues
  • To consider case studies re safeguarding and child protection

NEW COURSE....

DSL Whole Day Refresher Training  (Full day course)

We are pleased to now offer DSL Whole Day Refresher Training, this course covers everything that is included in our half day Update session, but allows more time to look further and review such topics as online safety, curriculum resources and ‘train the trainer’ session, which enables participants to deliver basic safeguarding awareness to staff based on ‘Working Together’ guidance.

On appointment to post all DSLs must still complete:
• New to role training (whole day) available through Babcock 4S

• Foundation modules 1 and 2 available through Surrey Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB)

Following this DSLs must then complete Update training through Babcock 4S every two years.  It is at this point that delegates have the option of either choosing to attend the standard half day Update session or the whole day Refresher session - you are NOT required to complete both.

Whole School / Departmental Training

With the ever increasing focus on the importance of Safeguarding in schools and other educational settings, our consultants provide training and advice.

• Whole school staff training in Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures based on 'Working Together' and Keeping Children Safe in Education' statutory guidance

• Curriculum development to promote protective behaviours within an overall framework of PSHE to support children learning how to keep themselves safe. This may also include mapping of provision across the school
